Latitude 48 Paddling Club is a non-profit outrigger paddling club that was founded in 2016 by coaches and leaders in the Victoria outrigger and dragon boat paddling community of British Columbia. Our mission is to teach and grow the sport and culture of outrigger paddling in Victoria BC. We commit to cultivate and perpetuate the values of respect, fairness, fun, friendship, work ethic, sportsmanship and competition to our members and to the greater paddling community.

Have you ever wanted to try outrigger paddling?

This program is a great opportunity to learn how to paddle OC1 (solo outrigger) with our fantastic club coaches. In three Saturday sessions, you'll learn how to set up different canoes, the fundamentals of the paddle stroke, and overturned boat recovery all while enjoying Victoria's scenic waterway!

Paddles, lifejackets and all the equipment you will need to learn will be provided.


Course instructors will be practicing physical distancing. Hand sanitizer and equipment spray are provided.

Saturdays 12pm

Cost $80 for three 1.5 hour sessions inclusive (Paddlers will also need a yearly CORA membership at $30 in order to participate). **Max enrollment 6 paddlers



September 1st, 2020 to February 28th, 2021

If you are newer to paddling or have experience and wanting to train and compete but not quite ready for the competitive team commitment?  This program is for you. The Meridian Program is for athletes looking to maintain fitness, improve their outrigger stroke technique and learn boat skills in a fun and supportive environment.

Fall/Winter Schedule:

Wednesdays @ 6pm and Saturdays @ 9:00am OR 10:30am

Paddlers have access to club OC1s for additional personal training outside of practice times at no additional cost.


Racing: Due to COVID, OC6 racing is currently suspended.

Cost $265 for 6 month season ($40 discount for private boat owners)


September 1st, 2020 to Feb 28th 2021

For paddlers wanting to take the next step in their training and racing.  Our competitive coaches ask for a high level of dedication from paddlers and offer a supportive atmosphere that encourages strong work ethic, commitment and good sportsmanship in competition.  We emphasize the value of growing together and reaching goals as a team. During COVID restrictions, most paddling will be conducted in OC1 with return to OC6 as soon as provincial guidelines and risk mitigation allow. This season program size is limited and existing members will be given priority for registration.

Fall/Winter Schedule:

Open Crew: Tuesday @ 6pm and Sunday at 10:30am

Senior Masters (50+) Crew: Thursday @6pm and Sunday @8:30am

Training plan includes a third independent workout for individual training.

Paddlers have access to club OC1s for additional personal training outside of practice times at no additional cost.

Racing: During regular years, the competitive team competes in local,  regional and international races through the late fall, spring and summer.  During COVID restrictions, OC6 racing is currently suspended, but many of the training sessions are done in a competitive environment.

Cost $300 for 6 month season ($40 discount for private boat owners)

Latitude 48's coaches are available for one-on-one or small group coaching to both members and non-members. These sessions will focus on fundamentals and how to get the most out of your stroke. There is a wealth of coaching knowledge and experience in our coaching group. Our coaches have experience both coaching racing with dragonboat and outrigger teams from novice all the way up to world competition level. L48 coaches can bring a unique perspective to your training and will have insight into how to achieve your paddling goals, whatever they may be. 


$50 for 60-90 minute session, $70 for two people

*Non-club members that need access to an OC1 will pay an additional $20
